CROP WALK - Help Stop Hunger

The CROP WALK to help stop hunger will be held on Sunday, September 25th at 2:30PM in downtown Wake Forest. Anyone who wishes to participate should contact Kathy Pollard or Terri Austin so they can receive a CROPWALKER Envelope with instructions on how to designate funds and participate with our group from Wakeminster Baptist Church.

CROP WALKS are ecumenical, interfath community events. Undesignated funds help support the worldwide programs of Church World Service. Funds may also be designated to a variety of Christian organizations including the Southern Baptist International Mission Board. The CROP WALKS funds assist in the support of self-help development, meeting of emergency needs, and addressing the root causes of poverty and powerlessness.

25% of all donated funds made during the Wake Forest area CROP WALK stay in this area for use with Tri-Area Ministries centered in Wake Forest to assist people in the northern Wake/north Raleigh area. Tri-Area Ministries assists families in the Wake Forest, Rolesville, Youngsville and North Raleigh areas with food, clothes and other emergency assistance. The remaining 75% of the donated funds are either sent directly to any designated organizations or used with Church World Service programs. Donors and walkers may specify that their collected donations be used for the Southern Baptist Internation Mission Board (SBIMB).

• $4,000,000 - The amount shared by CROP WALKS (international) each year with local food banks, pantries, and community gardens.
• 2,000 - Approximate number of communities around the country who will hold a CROP WALK this year, involving people of all faiths!
• $935 - Cost of a building kit - wooden beams, window frames, lintels, doors, nails, plastic, cement, and other materials - for an Afgan family rebuilding their home in the wake of war.
• $100 - Cost of a shovel, pick, wheelbarrow, and 100 kg. of bean seeds for a Bolivian peasant farmer.
• $20 - Cost of a basic beehive for beekeeping in Kenya

To participate, you will need to obtain a CROPWALK Sponsorship Envelope and walk with us on Sunday, September 25th at 2:30PM in downtown Wake Forest.
